Parents play a critical role in helping to make sure that young people avoid risky driving situations, including where they are traveling as a passenger in a car with a young driver, and when they obtain their licence to drive.
F2D programs encourage young people to:
- Plan how they will travel to avoid risky situations as a passenger in a car, especially when driven by a young person with limited driving experience
- Speak up if they feel unsafe when travelling in a car
- Become safe drivers when they obtain their driving licence.
As part of the F2D Year 11 Workshop delivered in secondary schools across Victoria, young people develop a Personal Plan involving strategies and things they would say and do in dangerous situations in order to stay safe on the roads. If your son or daughter has taken part in a workshop we ask you to discuss their Personal Plan and support them to be safer when using the road.
